A Trade License is a legal document that grants permission to an individual or business entity to carry out commercial activities within a specific jurisdiction. In Bangladesh, trade licenses are issued by local government authorities such as City Corporations, Municipalities, or Union Parishads.

According to the Local Government Act, 2009, trade licenses are regulated under three administrative bodies:

• City Corporation
• Municipality (Pourashava)
• Union Parishad

It is mandatory to obtain a trade license to operate any business legally. Moreover, if a person owns multiple distinct businesses, each one requires a separate trade license.
